    There are sixty six flowers as roses and gillyflowers in a vase and after removing one-third of the former of them and two-sevenths of the latter ones because of withering, the number of all flowers left in the vase becomes equal to that of the roses at the beginning. What was the initial number of the gillyflowers?

    R + GF = 66 ⇒ R = 66 - GF....(I)
    66 - R / 3 - 2GF / 7 = R....(II)
    substituting the equation (I) in the equation (II), the variable R is eliminated;
    66 - (66 - GF) / 3 - 2GF / 7 = 66 - GF
    -22 + GF / 3 - 2GF / 7 = -GF
    GF / 3 + GF - 2GF / 7 = 22
    7GF + 21GF - 6GF = 21·22
    22GF = 21·22
    GF = 21
