Given that Citigroup CEO Vikram Pandit, upon seeing in January during the 2008 crisis that the institution's balance sheet showed a 7% loss, furiously demanded a turnaround and ordered that a 4% profit be achieved by the final month of that year through a linear correction, in which month was it earliest possible for the company to emerge from the loss?

A) April
B) May
C) June
D) July
E) August

Based on the linear Profit = f(Month) graph, the line between the points (1, -7%) and (12, 4%) is;
(Profit - 4%) / [ 4% - (-7%) ] = (Month - 12) / (12 - 1)
Profit = Month - 8 = 0 ⇒ Month = 8 ===> August.
