Applying Thales Theorem: (x + 1) / 1 = (x + 1 + 1 + r) / 2 ⇒ x = r
For the isosceles right triangle ABO where |AB| = |BO| = 1, applying the Pythagorean Theorem, x + 1 = 1·√2 ⇒ x = √2 - 1.
