    A plot of land is shared equally among four families, each with a different number of members. The families distribute their shares of land equally among themselves. If the family with the smallest share receives 1 / 36 of the land, what is the maximum total number of people across all four families?

    A) 30
    B) 28
    C) 25

    E) 22

    The maximum number of people in ONE of those four families: x
    TotalArea / (4x) = TotalArea / 36 ⇒ x = 9
    The maximum number of people in all those four families = 9 + 8 + 7 + 6 = 30.
